Job Summary: The Instrument Electrician (IE) Technician is responsible for safely maintaining, repairing, and/or replacing the physical equipment in a chemicals/polymer plant plant, correctly, and efficiently. Technicians install, troubleshoot, service and perform preventative maintenance on plant equipment.

Job Responsibilities: 1. Requires installation, repair and maintenance of all instrumentation and equipment used in process controls, analyzing systems, valves/actuators, and electrical systems 2. Dismantles, cleans, replaces parts, assembles and calibrates pneumatic and electronic instruments 3. Determines causes for malfunctioning instruments and takes appropriate action to correct trouble 4. Reads and interprets electrical blueprints, schematics, P&ID and loop drawings 5. Performs preventive maintenance on instrumentation and equipment 6. Installs, alters and repairs electrical systems which include installing conduit, pulling wire through conduit, making proper connections, determining and correcting electrical malfunctions in equipment and electrical control devices.

Preferred Qualifications: 1. Degrees, certifications and licenses 2. 5 years or greater of chemical plant maintenance and/or related work experience 3. Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or equivalent combination of work experience and technical training 4. Basic skills from several of the major standard industrial I & E skills including electrical AC/DC voltage, PLC, pneumatic control valves and systems, basic electronics, and process control systems 5. Level 1 or 2 certification 6. Network experience

JOB DESCRIPTION / REQUIREMENTS:
The Technician will be required to do a complete the teardown and assembly of components (Final Drive, steering clutch, bevel gear) specifically underground mining components (CLA, Tram, and Cutterhead Gear Cases) as well as completing failure analysis to determine cause of failures.

  • Heavy equipment service/repair      knowledge required, preferably with CAT equipment or Bucyrus. 2-3 years      experience desired.
  • Possess superior diagnosis and mechanical skills and      abilities.
  • Desire and ability to present strong customer service      skills

ORGANIZATION:
The incumbent will report directly to the First Line Supervisor and may take direction from the Lead Operator/Extruder Operator

SAFETY:
