Financial Aid
To qualify for Federal financial aid, a student must have a high school diploma or a GED diploma and be enrolled in an eligible program. Non-graduates must pass a U.S. Department of Education approved “ability to benefit” assessment test. Financial aid eligibility is based on need, which is determined by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA. The FAFSA is the primary application for federal aid. The most common type of federal financial aid is the Pell Grant. Contact the Financial Aid Office for FAFSA application or apply on line at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
Pell Grant
Students enrolling in a full-time program of at least 720 hours may qualify for the Federal Pell Grant. Yearly award amounts can range from $976 to $5350 depending on need (as determined by the FAFSA) and the length of academic program. Other Financial Aid options may be available. Some students may be eligible for Workforce Investment Act benefits through the area ONE STOP centers, Veterans Benefits and Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation funding for people with disabilities.
